hey everyone.. i just back a short time ago from the best vacation of my life!!! the girlfriend and i took a trip out to Nova Scotia for a vacation/ geocaching adventure and came home with a bunch of pics, some great stories and a fiancee!! Very Happy i am pretty happy at this point in my life..

just some background on our trip... we were there from july 9th to 13th and it wasnt long enough.. we managed to get in all the things we wanted to see but there was still much much more..
some of the highlights (other than asking Lori to marry me..) were, going to Peggy's Cove... if you want to see the ocean at its finest, smashing into the shore with a big lighthouse in the background than go here.. it was completely amazing and would go back to nova scotia just to spend more time out here.. the waves were absolutley huge and you just never get how powerful the ocean is till you see it like this!!
we also went to lunenburg.. this town was amazing.. we took a horse and carriage tour around town and was given all sorts of cool facts about this place.. some being that there are no new houses ever built here.. the houses in town and just refurbished over and over again.. its a national historic town site so you have to always restore your house to how it would more or less look from original. no vinye siding aloud in this town at all.. and the colours of the houses are crazy.. they are definitelly not affraid to use craaaaazy purples, pinks, yellows, greens.. i guess at one point you had to paint your house the same colour as your ship to identify yourself.. as well, staind glass was a display that meant you were well off or wealthy so very few houses have original staind glass.. houses and structures dating back to the 1700's... we also saw the bluenose 2 in port.. the Canadian government i guess is taking their time giving money to help give the needed repairs to the ship so its sitting docked out in the corner of the bay being neglected.. i was expecting something super cool but instead it kind of looked like a run down ship..

next was halifax and going to the citidal.. not spelled right but whatever.. this place was an army fort cut into a big hill and it was pretty advanced for its time.. quite amazing and well worth the visit if you enjoy military history.

we also went to a great sea food place that you get to eat your lobster from that days catch.. it was cool but now that i know how lobster meat comes out of a lobster i probably wont enjoy it as much anymore.. the lobster meat was good but where and how you had to get it form grossed me out a little.. i will leave it at that.. Laughing

we also went to that memorial where that air flight crashed off shore years back.. that was an amazing memorial built for them and quite scenic as well... more big waves crashing into the shore..

whale watching was also on the schedule.. that was completley amazing.. we saw plenty of hump back whales and port porposes.. the whales came right up to the 54 foot boat we were on and there was plenty of time for photos.. although the tour before us was quite disappointing because they only got to see a glimps of a whale and heard a few more being that you can hear them breath up to 2 miles away on the water.. oh, and whales breath absolutely stinks.. completely like sewage.. but i guess they eat nothing but fish and sea weed so i guess they are excused.. Wink

lastly was where i asked Lori to marry me.. it was on a secluded beach only really known by locals and it was the perfect spot.. the beach name was hirtle beach and because we are both geeks we also marked the exact spot with the gps where i proposed because thats the way we roll.. Laughing Laughing

i am forgetting lots and am too lazy to write the rest but i highly recomend going there.. dont sell yourself short and not see any tourist attractions because you feel there might be better things to look at.. Nova Scotia has two things: fishing and tourism.. they put millions into their tourism industry and it shows.. everything that we saw was extrememly well put together and was nothing like i have ever seen before..

here are some pics..

the first place i had to go. mmmmm mclobster!! Laughing

not too bad.. Laughing

i would never own a chrysler product.. this was the worst vehicle to drive in known to man.. complete junk..

i would own this one though. Wink

hirtle beach where i proposed

ahhhhh!!!

wasnt there a comic strip resembling this???

the building that was on the old hundred dollar bill

heres proof...

lunenburg

the poor neglected bluenose 2.. Crying or Very sad

our whale watching boat

a curious whale snout!! yes, it was that close!!

smelly whale breath!!!

here is another!!!

a little tail!!

here is how much the water level dropped in 5 hours!! almost 30 feet.

no water to be found for these poor boats..

craaaazy lobster.. i can no longer look at you the same way!! Laughing

whatcha lookin at!???

the inside of the fort

lots of neat things going on everyday

even the citidal isnt safe from geocaching!!!

Congrats on the awesome trip and the fact that she said yes. Smile
One question though, did you have to sell the engagement trailer to get the ring? Laughing
